First Annual Classic City Invitational a Success; Teams, Individuals Earn Recognition

10.25.09 The First Annual Classic City Invitational concluded Sunday after hosting nearly 200 undergraduate students and coaches and dozens of practicing attorneys, law students, and high schoolers.

The invitational included teams from Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Two of UGA's teams competed in the tournament, both finishing 5-3 with Honorable Mentions.

Morgan Branch won an Outstanding Attorney award, and Julia Barrett and Brianna Randall won Outstanding Witness awards.

The tournament was entirely student-run, and the field of judges included attorneys from across the state of Georgia, as well as UGA Law students.

High school students and UGA students not on Mock Trial participated in a program provided by the tournament that allowed them to serve as non-scoring jurors.

The University of Tennessee-Knoxville was the inaugural champion of the tournament.

UGA team members competing at the Classic City Invitational on Team Magnolias were: Jesika Wehunt (E Board, '10), Jake Campbell (Co-Captain, '10), Brianna Randall (Co-Captain, '12), Christana Akinremi ('11), Lauren Lutton ('13). Crystal Mitchell ('13), Kaya Porter ('13), and Lindsey Sciavicco ('12).

UGA team members competing at the Classic City Invitational on Team City were: Julia Barrett (E Board, '10), Morgan Branch (Captain, '10), Thomas Buscemi ('13), Brittany Dixon ('13), Sarah Kinsman ('11), Chase Lackey ('12), Kelly Schoenecker ('10), and Clayton Sharp ('13).
