UGA Noted in 3 Major National Rankings Systems

2.7.09 In a huge step for the program's national profile, UGA Mock Trial was noted in three of the major college Mock Trial ranking systems issued this week.

UGA finished 27 in The Deliberation Room's National Rankings, which tallies votes from mockers across the country. The Mock Dawgs ranked 32 in a power poll by the now well-known "Prognosticator," a frequent contributor to popular Mock Trial websites Perjuries.com and The Deliberation Room.

For the first time ever, UGA also entered the Computer Ranking System, a national ranking system similar to college football's BCS. The system calculates winning percentage, strength of schedule, point differential, and national poll performance to assign rankings. UGA is listed at 42 according to the most recent data.

The American Mock Trial Association, the organization that administers undergraduate Mock Trial nationwide, consists of approximately 250 universities and 570 teams.

UGA was the top team in the state of Georgia and finished ahead of last year's national champions in both The Deliberation Room's National Rankings and Prognosticator's Definitive 2008-2009 Power Rankings.

Prognosticator also predicted UGA to take two bids to the Opening Round Championship Series (ORCS) of Nationals (the maximum possible) and to win the Feb. 28-29 regional in Birmingham, AL .
